Song: Zach Williams - Baptized
Gospel Reading: Matthew 3:13-17
The Baptism of Jesus
Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
Apostle's Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Song: Martin Smith (Delirious?) -
I could sing of your love forever
Sermon: Romans 12:1-8
A Living Sacrifice
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Prayers of Intercession and Lord's Prayer
God, our Father. Thank you for the gift of your love.
Thank you for calling us your children.
Jesus, we come to you today. We ask you to transform us,
to change us into the people you want us to be.
Mould us into your likeness, make us pure and holy.
Only you have the power to change our lives,
and so we entrust our lives to you.
Where we are hard and bitter, soften us.
Where we are impatient, give us patience.
Where we are self-involved, give us eyes and
ears for others’ needs.
Where we are angry, make us compassionate.
Where we are unforgiving, enable us to forgive.
Where we are proud, humble us.
Where we are greedy, restrain us.
Where we are hurtful, make us gentle.
Where we are anxious, comfort us.
Where we are weak, empower us.
Where we are deceitful, make us honest.
Where we are lazy, encourage and involve us.
You, Christ Jesus, have the power to transform the world.
We ask you, bring about the transformation of all
systems and institutions that are going astray.
Transform our country’s people, so that we may live in
harmony and peace.
Transform the government, that it may serve the people well.
Transform the legal system, that it may do justice.
Transform the health department, that the sick may
be cared for compassionately.
Transform the educational system, that our young
peoplemay be taught well.
Transform your church, that we may be an example to
the rest of the world.
For all of this we pray, concluding with the words you
yourself taught us:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen.
Benediction
May the beauty of God be reflected
in your eyes,
the love of God be reflected in your hands,
the wisdom of God be reflected in your words,
and the knowledge of God flow
from your heart,
that all might see, and seeing, believe

Song: Hallelujah - Pentatonix
