Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand
1 After this Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. 2 And a large crowd was following him, because they saw the signs that he was doing on the sick.
3 Jesus went up on the mountain, and there he sat down with his disciples. 4 Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand. 5 Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” 6 He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do. 7 Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little.”
8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him, 9 “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?” 10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. 11 Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted. 12 And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, “Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.” 13 So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten.
14 When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, “This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!” 15 Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself.

Hebrews 13:1-3
1 Let brotherly love continue. 2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 3 Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.
1 Bleibt fest in der brüderlichen Liebe. 2 Gastfrei zu sein vergesst nicht; denn dadurch haben einige ohne ihr Wissen Engel beherbergt. 3 Denkt an die Gefangenen, als wärt ihr Mitgefangene, und an die Misshandelten, weil auch ihr noch im Leibe lebt.

Herr, du lädst uns ein, zu dir zu kommen und deine Liebe und Güte zu erfahren. Wir danken dir für deine Einladung und bitten dich:
Für die, die gefangen sind – in ihrer Armut, in ihren Ängsten, in ihren Sorgen – und die nicht mehr glauben können an die Botschaft eines gnädigen, befreienden Gottes. Herr, dein Reich komme.
Für die Armen, Kranken und Einsamen: Dass sie nicht vergeblich von uns Hilfe und die Besserung ihrer Leiden erwarten und sie nicht vergessen, dass du sie liebst. Herr, dein Reich komme.
Wir bitten dich für die Menschen in den Grenzsituationen des Lebens: Dass sie in deinem Wort, im Gebet und in der Gemeinschaft der Christen Orientierung finden. Herr, dein Reich komme.
Lege den Verantwortlichen weise Gedanken in ihr Herz, damit sie die richtigen Entscheidungen treffen, die dem Wohl der Menschen, Tiere und Pflanzen dienen. Herr, dein Reich komme.
Für alle, die Anstoß nehmen an deinem Wort und sich von dir abwenden. Dass sie Menschen finden, die ihren Glauben überzeugt leben und sie entdecken, dass deine Worte ihrem Leben Sinn, Ziel und Halt geben können. Herr, dein Reich komme.
Herr, unser Gott, durch deinen Sohn lädst du uns ein, dich kennenzulernen. Stärke uns im Glauben, dass wir deine Einladung immer wieder dankbar annehmen. Und lass uns deinem Ruf folgen, Gastfreundschaft zu üben – in unseren Familien, in unserer Gemeinde, in unserem Land. Darum bitten wir dich, Christus, unseren Herrn.
All our supplications flow together as we offer you the prayer Jesus has taught us:
Our Father in heaven,
